A Book of Disappointment

I hate when a book has a really cool title, gets a lot of press, and raises my expectations. I was looking forward to The Girl with a Clock for a Heart, even though I wasn’t entirely sure what it was about. I put my name on the list at the library and waited.
When it arrived, I put it on the top of the to-read pile. I finally started it yesterday. I got that tingly tummy feeling from the very first page –  this is going in the unfinishable pile.
I made it to page 26. It’s going back to the library. The author used the word Saab seven times in a paragraph and a half but never once referred to it as a car. That was the clincher. The writing is so rudimentary and juvenile. I’m not wasting anymore of my time. Neither should you.
